Purpose:
To invite Australian leaders in conservation, protected area management, land management,
catchment management, water management, minerals and forest management, tourism and outdoor
recreation, carbon sequestration, the carbon economy and regional governance to a National Forum
to discuss and agree on national landscape-scale actions that optimise the long-term conservation
of Australian ecosystems in the face of climatic, demographic and economic change.
Objectives:
1. Seek consensus and commitment to an inclusive approach to conservation across borders, tenures
and land uses;
2. Foster national partnerships to progress key initiatives and demonstrate the application of landscape-scale conservation for ecosystem, species conservation, community and economic benefits;
3. Explore policy and practical mechanisms to actively assist conservation and management of landscape scale interconnected natural lands of high conservation value;
4. Advance mechanisms to harness the carbon economy and the water economy to maximise economic returns to all sectors ;
5. Ensure indigenous rights, perspectives and involvement are fully integrated;
